Mary Poppins Shares Magic with Mums of Olympians
The world’s most famous nanny opened her umbrella and flew in to the P&G Family Home yesterday, treating mums of Olympians from all over the world to an afternoon of songs, including ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.’
The visit was just another way that P&G is serving mums of Olympians and their families while in London - all part of P&G’s Thank You Mum campaign, which recognizes a special person behind every Olympian – Mum.
Mum of an Estonian Olympian said, “I have always admired Mary Poppins and it was fun to hear parenting tales from the world’s most famous nanny! Being in London for the Olympic Games has been amazing; I’m incredibly proud of my daughter for achieving her dreams and making it this far. This month was always going to be one of the best of my entire life, but with this thoughtful gestures likes this, P&G is making every moment even more special. It’s been wonderful to spend quality time with my daughter and enjoy ourselves like this, and I can’t thank P&G enough.”
“It’s such a huge achievement to compete in the Olympic Games, and it’s an honour to be able to come to the P&G Family Home and perform in front of so many talented and dedicated athletes and their families from around the world,” said Mary Poppins, aka Rhionnon Duffy. “I hope that this has made them feel even more welcome in London.”

The P&G Thank You Mum campaign is the largest campaign in P&G’s 175-year history. P&G brands are supporting more than 150 athletes from around the world. As a company, P&G is serving a special person behind every athlete – mum. The Thank You Mum campaign has helped mums travel to see their children compete in London 2012 Olympic Games, provided entrance to the Opening Ceremony and access to the P&G Family Home to watch events together, celebrate and relax.
The campaign has been brought to life through a variety of media channels from April through August. Olympic Games-themed P&G branded products are featured in millions of stores across the globe. As a part of the Thank You Mum programme, P&G has also committed to raise $5 million to support local youth sports programs through a portion of sales and donations from the company’s leadership brands, including Pampers®, Tide®, Gillette® and Pantene®.
