We are delighted to have recently presented a cheque for £43,680 to Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.  Over the last 12 months, our P&G Community Matters team have worked tirelessly to fundraise for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices through raffles and other staff events. An additional £1000 was also added to the total following a successful grant awarded to the hospice after P&G employees spent the day volunteering at the retail warehouse as part of P&G’s newly launched P&G Community Connect programme.

The money will be used to help fund the Community Nursing programme that operates from Sam Beare in Weybridge helping people to stay in the comfort of their home when they need it the most. The programme is one of the most expansive services offered by the hospices, as 70% of all care given takes place in homes across North West Surrey. Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Doctors visit patients to assess their symptoms and deliver an appropriate programme of treatment and care that is personalised to cater for each patient’s unique needs, in coordination with hospice colleagues and other health providers such as GPs and District Nurses.

Sophia Mir, Community Matters Team at P&G Brooklands said: “We are delighted to help Woking & Sam Beare Hospices as part of our local fundraising efforts here at Brooklands.  Woking & Sam Beare Hospices do incredible work to help families in Surrey. Everyone on site has worked really hard to raise as much as possible for this important cause.“

The hospices nurses were thrilled by the donation; Sandie Chandler, Clinical Nurse Specialist Lead said “we're overwhelmed by the generous donation from P&G, which will help us take our care of many more patients in their own homes. A large proportion of the CNS Team’s time is spent ensuring a patient can stay in familiar surroundings and live life to the fullest for as long as possible. With our help, past patients have been able to see the birth of a grandchild, attend one last happy family event or simply enjoy their own house and home comforts for longer, with the people and pets they love.”
