Pampers will be donating over 100,000 nappies to London based charity Little Village

Pampers will be donating over 100,000 nappies* to London based charity Little Village. The nappy donation from Pampers will give much-needed help to parents and babies that are living in poverty. For over 50 years, Pampers has cared for the happy, healthy development of all babies, and believes that all babies deserve the best start in life.

Fans of the #GlobalSussexBabyShower are calling for donations to be made to charities supported by the Royal Couple and on Wednesday 24th April, an employee from the Pampers Plant in Manchester hand delivered the first batch of nappies to one of the three Little Village drop off points in London.

Faye Cruickshank from Pampers commented, “Pampers thanks its online community for bringing this initiative to our attention. Little Village is such a great charity for families living in poverty in London and we are delighted to be able to support them with nappy donations for each of their locations.  Pampers has been making nappies in the UK for the past 30 years and supporting UK families is really important for us, especially as over 80% of the production team in the plant are parents themselves. We’re hoping our donation will encourage others to donate to this great cause and shine light on the child poverty crisis in the UK.”

Sophia Parker, Chief Executive of Little Village, commented, “We’d like to thank Pampers for this generation donation, we’re a very small charity, so support like this is crucial. We’ve been delighted by the response we’ve received since being mentioned on the Duke and Duchess’ Instagram account. We support families by providing clothing for their children, essentials like nappies, safe places for them to sleep, and books to help them thrive. We receive no public funding so are reliant on donations like this from Pampers and the generosity of the public - every donation really does count.”

Like a foodbank, Little Village collects clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5. Local families donate items, which are passed on to families who have been referred via a network of partners like health visitors, children’s centres and midwives. It has sites in Wandsworth, Camden and Southwark and saw an increase of 97 per cent in the demand for its service in the past year.
